Particleboard (particle board) looks good, inexpensive, but afraid of moisture. Doors from it are good in a room interior.

But in the hallway the flaws were so obvious that the repair of two bedrooms and the installation of doors had to add processing and pasting one of the walls of the hallway of the room. My friend in a similar situation went the tried and tested way: she peeled off the old wallpaper, cut off all the excess with a sharp short knife, plastered it and again glued it.
