What materials will be needed to work?
-Base for postcards (I used a rectangle of white cardboard 16x13 cm in size)
- Thick white paper on which the pattern will be cut out (to the size of the base doubled for a postcard)
-Printed pattern on the printer, which we will transfer to paper
- A variety of decorations: ribbons, beads, laces and so on (in addition, I used feathers, as I chose a bird silhouette as a pattern)
-Stationery knife
-Paints
-Jar for water
-Brush
- Paints (gouache is better, because when drawing with gouache, less water is used than, for example, with watercolors, therefore the paper will not be plagued by excess moisture)
-Palette
-Pencil
-Scissors
-Glue
So, let's get to work.
First, prepare the basis for the postcard. Take cardboard, put an unnecessary sheet or oilcloth under it, so as not to stain the work surface and mix the desired color in the palette, make a color extension.
I used the blue color and gradually added more and more white gouache to it, the result was a smooth color transition, which will very well serve as a background for a postcard.
If you wish, you can decorate in a similar way several pieces of cardboard to choose the best one for the idea, and use the rest with a different picture or for another idea.
In any case, they will not be wasted in vain.
The next step is to transfer the picture from the printout to thick paper. To simplify this process, you can attach a printout and a white sheet to a window or other transparent flat surface and translate the drawing. You can draw your own pattern based on the finished template. Here, everyone chooses his own. When the drawing is transferred to paper, we begin to cut it with the help of a clerical knife. Be sure to place an unnecessary notebook, a stack of paper or oilcloth under the drawing - the working surface will remain intact and it will be much more convenient to cut.
When the pattern is cut out, the final step remains - to connect all the parts together. We glue our "clipping" on the basis for the postcard and decorate, as the fantasy suggests.
