It is important to remember that refilling cartridges deprives the owner of a guarantee on the device! Moreover, it does not matter who, how and how many times performed this operation. At the same time, with due care and following the recommendations, the risk of something damage is minimal.
Inkjet printer cartridges should be refilled with ink when a color starts to fade or gaps appear during printing. Of course, provided that the printer was properly used and there were no downtime for more than two weeks.
For refueling you will need:
- syringes, one per color. It is desirable that the piston is rubber - this allows a more smooth supply of ink, and also prevents sharp injection. In addition, the finer the needle, the better. The volume of the syringe is not more than 5 ml;
- cotton wool and paper napkins. They are necessary to remove possible leaks;
- several old newspapers to cover the workplace;
- the right ink. They can be purchased at any computer store. Knowing the printer model, the consultant will help you choose the right ones.
Inkjet printer cartridge
Depending on the printer model, the cartridge carriage system may vary. The instructions always indicate how to remove the ink tank.
For example, in Canon models, when you open the cover of the turned on printer, the entire unit is extended.
When working with the cartridge, do not touch the pads and nozzles. After removing the sticker, you should increase the diameter of the holes with an awl or small scissors.
The needle of the syringe must be loosely inserted into each of them.
This is an important point: there must be a distance between the needle and the walls of the hole through which air will be squeezed out of the cartridge when refueling. There is one hole on the black ink tank, and several on the color ink, so first you need to use the search on the global network to determine which color ink is to be filled in. In the absence of such information, you can insert a needle into each hole and follow the marks of paint on it to find out the correspondence. So, in this example, on the PG-446 cartridge, the color is red on top, blue on the left, and yellow on the right.
After collecting 1-2 ml of ink into the syringe, carefully insert the needle into the hole. Inside the porous material, therefore, it is necessary to overcome a slight resistance. The needle should not go too deep, as in this case the filter membrane may be damaged.
Quite enough to 1/3.
After that, slowly squeeze out the ink. Haste is not needed here, since the internal material must be uniformly saturated with paint. The capacity volume is determined empirically. Typically, 4 ml is enough for a black cartridge, and 1-2 ml of each color for a color cartridge. The exact values depend on the degree of emptying of the tank.When refueling, air will be squeezed out, blowing bubbles of paint - this is normal.
Refilling is considered completed when the ink is no longer absorbed. Spilled residues must be “drawn” into the syringe.
After that, all possible drips are removed from the cartridge with cotton. If necessary, you can gently wipe the nozzles, but you can not use cotton wool.
A napkin blotter is suitable for these purposes.
Stickers should not be forgotten, since it is thanks to them that it is possible to reduce the air pressure inside the container. Alternatively, you can use tape.
It is important not to seal the air duct.
After refilling, the cartridges are returned to the printer, and in the maintenance program, select “test print” or “head cleaning”. Ink syringes should be flushed with distilled water.
