DIY do it yourself

The comfort in any room largely depends on how well the textiles are selected, how fashionable accents are placed. This is especially true of the bedroom and living room: bedspreads and pillows here play almost the main role in the interior design. Original decorative pillows not only decorate the room, but also allow you to comfortably spend the long-awaited minutes of rest in it.

For sewing 2 pillows, the finished size of which is 55 * 55 cm, you will need:
• fabric for pillowcases 150 cm wide and 100 cm long;
• finishing fabric 150 cm wide and 70 cm long;
• quilted lining fabric on synthetic winterizer 150 cm wide and 85 cm long;
• Velcro tape (Velcro) 2.8 cm wide and 30 cm long;
• any pillow filler, for example, holofiber;
• sewing thread in tone;
• scissors;
• ruler;
• tailor centimeter or tape measure;
• crayon;
• 2 hours of free time and a little imagination.

Step-by-step instruction.
Cut out the details. For pillowcases, cut 2 rectangles of 43 * 100 cm from the fabric. For ruffles, you need to cut 2 strips of fabric 17 * 300 cm in size (they can be cut along the transverse or oblique).

1. Make a pillowcase closure on the pillow. To do this, treat the short sides of the rectangles with a seam in a hem with a closed cut: first, tuck the fabric 0.5 cm, then 3 cm and lay the stitch.

Make a pillowcase clasp

2. Cut the velcro tape into 4 pieces each 7.5 cm long. Stitch the upper parts of the braid with hooks on the edge of the pillowcase on the wrong side, and the lower parts of the braid on the edge of the pillowcase on the front side. Pay attention to the segments of the braid located opposite each other, otherwise the clasp will be skewed.

3. Fold the details of the cut and fasten the pillowcase. Then align it so that the clasp is exactly in the middle of the part. After that, cut into 2 parts, slightly rounding the corners. You should get 2 parts: the bottom, on which the clasp will be located, and the top.

4. Stitch frill details into the ring, iron the seams. Fold the frill in half, lay along the sections at a distance of 0.5 cm from the edge of the marking line. Then pick up the frill so that its length is equal to the perimeter of the pillowcase, which is approximately 165 cm.

5. Put the finished frill on the bottom of the pillowcase and fasten them with tailor pins. After this, sew the stitch at a distance of 0.75 cm from the sections, then remove the pins.

Overlay the finished frill

6. Stitch the upper and lower parts of the pillowcase, treat the slices with an overlock, or lay a zigzag line along them.

7. Turn the pillowcase to the front side through the clasp, straighten the frill and iron the product. Repeat steps 2-7 to stitch the second pillowcase.

8. Now we are going to sew the pillow itself. To do this, cut out 2 pieces of 42 * 84 cm from the quilted lining fabric. Fold each part in half. Lay the stitch 1 cm from the edge, leaving a 15 cm hole in the seam.

Now let's do the sewing

9. Turn the pillow to the front side. Fill it through the left hole with filler to the desired volume.

10. After that, sew a hole or sew it with secret stitches manually. Sew the second pillow in the same way. If you have a ready-made pillow 40 * 40 cm in size, then this step 9 can be omitted.

11. Put a pillowcase on the pillow and admire the result: a fashionable decorative pillow will look great on the sofa in the living room or on the bed in the bedroom, successfully complementing and enlivening the interior of any room!
