How often from the TV screen, from the pages of magazines or online communities we are taught how to make something beautiful out of nothing. And we look at it with the enthusiasm of teenage girls and enjoy it. Eh, if only my hands grew from the right place, I would also do something. How often do such thoughts come to you? To be honest, I am constantly. But the deep-rooted, established opinion that I cannot even hold a needle in my hands correctly sits within me very confidently and firmly. But, probably, for every young lady like me, there came a moment when we said to ourselves: “I was, I wasn’t.” And they set out to make something “like that”, in 90% of cases giving up their pathetic attempts before they even got through a third of the way.
But this time I told myself: “That’s enough, you must see it through to the end, no matter what the cost.”
So, I remembered the clock that had long been gathering dust on a shelf in the pantry and decided to make something out of it that I would use.

watch

A hundred years ago, some “kind” person gave us this squalor, which, as you might have guessed, added to the collection of unclaimed things.
An old blouse with beautiful material, but no longer the right size, came to light from a bottomless closet. I found some glue and a screwdriver.
The process has begun.
Using a screwdriver, I removed the terrible plastic casing from the watch, took out the glass and examined the dial, which had to be glued here and there.

plastic casing

Then, I cut a suitable size piece of fabric from the blouse and cut a hole in it in the center. By the way, it was only possible to not miss the size on the second attempt, since the first time, the material barely reached the rim. So, from my own experience, I can say that it is better to cut off more and then trim it on the watch rim.
Next came the labor-intensive and most unpleasant moment: it was necessary to cover the plastic casing with material.

butterfly

With the help of glue and someone's mother, I finally managed to do it. True, I had to say goodbye to the manicure and tear off my fingers a couple of times, which were glued instead of fabric. But through trial and error, I figured out that it’s easier to use an old ballpoint pen, the reverse side of which makes it very easy to glue the material. I won’t even talk about my lamentations when I had to tear it off and redo it because the fabric was bristling.
And now the glue had dried, the watch could be reassembled. Oddly enough, they looked very nice, but something was missing. And then I remembered the butterflies that “live” in my friend’s tasteless painting, making it look very cool.
It's decided, I'll do it decor from butterflies.
I drew a template on paper and cut it out. Then, I found a lid from a salad that I bought by weight a few days ago, and I realized that this plastic would be perfect. I transferred the template to plastic and cut out two butterflies.

varnish

I bent it at the beginning of the wings, since the plastic was soft enough for this.
Afterwards I had to remember my childhood and start drawing.Old nail polishes, which turned out to be in abundance, came in handy. On the front side I applied the base color, red-orange.

textile

I made the border edging bronze, painted flashes of pale pink and gold, and put four white dots on each butterfly.
The result pleased me, the butterflies shimmered, but were not pretentious or too colorful, which would have been unnecessary with the blue-gray fabric with a paisley pattern on the watch rim. I glued them to the watch in random order and began to enjoy the result.

Handmade watch

Just two hours of work, a ruined manicure and the skin on my fingers torn off from glue. But the result exceeded all my expectations. My cute watch with butterflies now hangs in the very central place. And strangely enough, after an hour I no longer thought about manicure and dried glue, but I often looked at my watch, because I really like it.
