How to save money and at home repair sandals with deformed elastic on the straps?
Replacing the elastic band on the straps is not difficult at all.
To work you will need:
ripper;
scissors;
elastic band of the desired color and size;
silk threads matching the color;
needle.
Before starting repairs, shoes should be washed and allowed to dry.
Use a strap ripper to rip off the elastic. Remove the old elastic from the buckles and cut a new one (2 pieces) of the same length. Thread the elastic bands into the buckles.
Using scissors, push the elastic to the desired length inside the strap.
Align both elastic bands at the same distance.
Sew the elastic in two threads. To do this, secure a knot at the ends of the thread and bring the needle to the front side of the strap. To prevent the factory seam from unraveling, it must be secured with additional stitches. The leather already has holes from the factory seam, so sewing will be easy.
We sew a “forward needle” seam in one direction, securing the factory seam on the other side of the strap, and go back.
Fix the working thread, hide it and cut off the excess.
All that remains is to adjust the length of the strap.
