Like many others crafts made from paper, pop-up creations quite often become real works of art. Complex, multifaceted, colorful, they attract the attention of adults and children. However, the secrets of pop-ups are not as complicated as they seem at first glance, and parents can easily make cards or even a whole book for their child. The same thing can be done with older children, developing their talents and imagination. Any child will appreciate interesting and entertaining three-dimensional pictures. For example, a cat sitting on the window.

What you will need:
1. Cardboard, A4 size Whatman paper or a sheet from a drawing kit.
2. A simple pencil.
3. Colored pencils or markers.
4. Ruler.
5. Large and small scissors (you can also take a stationery knife).
6. Glue.

Performance technique.
Take a sheet of thick white paper, for example, from a drawing set. Its standard size is A4. It needs to be bent in half.

Now half of the window is drawn on the fold side, and on top is a cat sitting comfortably on it.

The sheet unfolds and only half of the window is drawn on the second half.

This would be enough for pop-up cards, but for a page from a children's book, outlines alone are not enough. So the next stage is to paint the picture however you like.
Then the sheet is folded with the pattern outward.

The window along with the cat must be carefully cut out so that you get a three-dimensional rectangle. Now the cut out part is folded back.

A fold is formed. All lines must be bent well so that the picture can easily fold and jump out of the page.

This is what happened.

The next step is to very carefully cut out the inner parts of the window.

That's it, you don't need to do anything else with the page itself. But if there’s just a hole left outside the window, it won’t be very interesting. Therefore, take a simple blank sheet (not cardboard, but, for example, “Svetocopy”), cut off a piece sufficient to more than cover the window and the outline of the cat.

It needs to be bent in half.

Having measured where the window lines will be, you need to depict the interior decoration of the room on a piece of paper. Or, for example, a pot of flowers and a dog spying on a cat.

Now, using a glue stick, the leaf with the pattern inward is glued to the main pattern.

You need to glue it carefully so as not to smear the window itself and the cat under any circumstances, otherwise they will not “pull out” when you open the page.

This is what happened in the end. The page from the book is ready.

When a sufficient number of pages are made, they can be collected into a real book for a child, and a cover can be made. To make the sheets denser, you should not just glue them together, but put half of another sheet between them. If desired, the edges of the pages can be covered with a thin strip of tape.
Here are more examples of pages made using the same technique.
