Ordinary keychains and pendants sold in stores look banal and ordinary. We invite you to sew with your own hands a small accessory in the Yakut national style, called “Chapparakh”. This chapparaakh was previously thrown onto the horse along with the saddle. Now chapparaakh is used during the summer national holiday “Ysyakh”. We will make a small copy of such a chapparaakh, slightly larger than a matchbox. This accessory is very popular now and looks very beautiful.

Step 1) What you need: drape of any color, preferably natural colors like red, green, yellow; beads of different colors to match the color of the fabric; needle; thread; scissors; soap or chalk.

Step 2) Decide on the size of the product and choose the color of the fabric. Chapparaakh consists of two layers of fabric: the base and the inner part. They should be of different colors, preferably dark and light. Using soap, draw a base on the fabric that is symmetrical on the sides (see figure). On the second fabric we draw the inner part. It should be 4-5 mm less than the base. Carefully cut out both parts.

Step 3) Place both parts on top of each other. We process the edge of the base with an even seam so that the threads do not protrude from the edge.We adjust the inner part to the base and sew it on in any convenient, but beautiful and durable way.

Step 4) Select beads that match the product in size and color. Since our product is small in size, small beads should be chosen. Glass beads, not plastic, will do. We chose the red round one. Using a thin needle, embroider a Yakut national pattern with beads, meaning happiness and wealth. It was believed that the more beautiful and rich this pattern, the more authoritative the owner of this chapparaakh. The pattern shape template is easy to find on the Internet. You should get a pattern like this. Then, in place of the gaps between the red beads, we insert golden bugles, or any other beads that differ in color from red, otherwise it will not be visible. In the end you will get a pattern like this.

Step 5) Our mini accessory is almost ready. All that remains is to make pendants from beads. To do this, we select several types of beads of different colors. We create a combination of colors, and in the simplest way we make beautiful, small pendants. The main thing is not to pull the thread too tight. In this case, the pendants will turn out uneven and too hard. It should turn out very beautiful. Different colors enliven the overall look of the accessory.
Step 6) The back of the chapparakh after sewing does not look very neat as the back threads are visible. In this case, if necessary, you can carefully glue the self-adhesive material with an iron, or sew any thin fabric. It is important that this fabric is invisible from the front and does not spoil the shape of the product.

So, our mini-chapparakh is ready! Now you can proudly wear it with your phone, bag, etc. You can also make mittens using the same method and also wear it as a keychain. These mini keychains look great as a gift. Good luck and enjoy wearing it.
