A carpet is an indispensable thing in everyday life. It is he who creates the comfort of the apartment and retains heat. Despite the fact that more and more people are putting parquet and linoleum on their floors, rugs are still popular and in demand. They are located mainly in the bathroom and toilet, on the balcony, in the hallway near the door. There is a wide variety of carpets in stores, but you can easily make a cute rug with your own hands. You don't have to have any special skills to do this. Creating a rug requires perseverance and a sufficient amount of time. However, this is not so important, since in the end you can get a unique and inimitable product.
The main thing is the desire to create and limitless imagination.
To make a rug we will need:
1. The base of the rug. Canvas or construction metal mesh are suitable for this. They can be purchased at sewing and construction stores. It is better to choose a larger mesh or canvas to make it easier to work.
In our case, there is a metal mesh 50*30 cm. You can use a larger or smaller size base depending on your desire.
2. Fabric. To create a rug, use unnecessary T-shirts, sweaters, T-shirts and other things.Preference should be given to knitted fabrics, as they are soft and easier to work with.
3. Scissors. You need to make sure that the scissors are comfortable to hold, since you will be working with them for quite a long time, and it is very easy to rub calluses on your fingers. You also need to pay attention to the sharpness of the tool, which determines the speed of cutting the fabric.
The process of creating a fluffy rug
First you need to cut the existing fabric into strips 1-2 cm wide. It's okay if the pieces turn out uneven, as this will not be noticeable in the finished rug.
Next, our strips should be cut into smaller pieces. In order for the rug to have a small pile, the strips should be 6-9 cm long. If you want to achieve a large volume of the product, parts of the fabric should be made 10-15 cm.
If you are using several fabrics, it is better to sort them by color to make it easier to work with. You should take enough clothes and fabric to make the rug soft and fluffy. It took 2 sweaters and 4 T-shirts to create a rug of our length.
After preparing the necessary material, you can begin to work. A strip of fabric must be threaded through the hole in the mesh.
Then tie a regular knot.
The strips of fabric should be placed fairly close to each other.
In this way we need to fill all the empty space on our base.
Having different fabrics, you can alternate colors to make the rug brighter and more interesting. You can give free rein to your imagination and create various patterns and designs from colored fabrics. To avoid confusion, you can draw the desired picture on a piece of paper and look at it while tying fabric knots on the mesh.
In our case, there is a simple mixture of different colors.
After filling all the space on our grid, we get a soft and fluffy rug.
