How to choose bookmark color?
By Easter, get a red jacquard ribbon or burgundy. The white bookmark will be appropriate for Christmas or Epiphany, green - for Spirits Day or Trinity, and blue - for the Mother of God holiday.
What if the store does not have a jacquard ribbon of the right color?
Do not worry, it can be replaced with a satin ribbon 3–3.5 cm wide. To make the bookmark look elegant, look for a ribbon with lurex along the edges of gold or silver.
How to choose beads for decorating bookmarks?
For work, it is better to use Czech-made beads. The selection of beads is carried out according to the main color of the jacquard ribbon and the contrasting tone of the pattern (usually it is a gold color) or the color of lurex on a satin ribbon (silver or gold).
To make such a bookmark with a cross and a fringe from beads you will need:
• Jacquard ribbon with a width of 3.5 cm and a length of 70 cm.
• Monofilament.
• Cutting beads for a cross of the color of gold - 8 pieces.
• Bordeaux beads and gold.
• Needle for embroidery with beads.
• Scissors.
• Matches.
Embroidery fringes
Scorch the edges of the bookmark with matches, so that the tape does not crumble.
Pass the thread into the needle. Fasten the working thread to the tape with the edge.
Insert the needle closer to the edge, sew a bead of gold color.
Withdraw the needle on the wrong side, sew the bead on, remove the needle in front of 1 bead on the front side.
Pass the needle through the sewn bead and grab the bead with the needle.
Bring the needle to the wrong side, grab the bead with the needle.
Bring the needle to the front of the ribbon between the sewn beads.
Sew beads across the entire width of the bookmark. For the beads to lie flat, thread the needle through all the beads on the wrong side of the bookmark.
Also thread the needle through all the beads and on the front side.
Withdraw the needle at the left edge of the tape.
String 7 beads of burgundy and 1 bead of gold color on a thread.
Pass the bead of gold color, insert the needle in the opposite direction into the maroon beads. So that the fringe does not stick out, but lies flat, there is no need to tighten monofilament.
Insert the needle next to the thread at the beginning of the chain.
To step back a little from the sewn beads and also repeat along the entire length of the ribbon.
Fasten the monofilament, thread the needle through the entire sewn bead row, cut the thread.
Also, on the wrong side, hide the beginning of the thread.
Cross stitch
Pull 2.5 cm from the bottom edge of the tape, fasten the thread in the center.
Sew a bead of gold color on the front side.
Also sew a bead on the wrong side of the ribbon.
To embroider a “cutting” cross with beads, duplicating the embroidery on the wrong side.
Thread the needle through 3 beads, put 3 beads on the needle.
Withdraw the needle in the opposite direction, repeat on all sides of the cross.
Also draw a cross on the wrong side of the tape.
Fasten the working threads, hide the ends, cut off the excess thread.
The bookmark is ready!
