With prolonged and intensive use, the remote control of the radio equipment begins to manifest a characteristic malfunction. The buttons on the remote control stop responding to pressing. This happens due to contamination of the contact pads of the board and rubber buttons, or due to wear of the conductive coating of the buttons. To restore the remote control, you can carefully disassemble the remote, clean the pads and buttons with a damp cloth, and apply a little conductive glue to the buttons. But there is another way to restore the remote control. This is to use pieces of foil glued to conductive rubber bands.
To repair the console, we need scissors, a knife, tweezers, Monolith glue and cigarette foil.

tools for repair

We remove the batteries from the remote control. With a knife, carefully divide the remote into two halves. The halves of the remote control are usually fixed with these latches.

open the remote control

Next, remove the board and block of rubber buttons. Using a wet towel, we clean them from contamination.
From foil we cut squares to the size of the contact pads.

foil squares

We put a little glue on the conductive coating and, taking a small square with tweezers, glue it.

glue the foil

Our remote control has five buttons not used. Therefore, it is not necessary to glue foil on them.

Glue the foil on the buttons

Next, we assemble the remote control. We insert the batteries, observing the polarity, and check the operation of all buttons.

assemble the remote

Using this method, the operability of many remote controllers of various radio equipment was restored. A repeated defect appears after about a year. It will restore the buttons again by tearing off the old foil and gluing a new one. And one more tip. To check the operation of the remote control, you need to direct the lens of any digital camera to the infrared LED of the remote control and press any button. If the LED blinks, then with great confidence we can assume that the remote control is working.

If we do not see blinking, then the remote control is not working.

ring the foil before starting to work with the remote control! the cigarette often does not conduct current, the luminescence is deposited on paper * with a grid * or with dots.

    Good day!

I suffered for a long time with the TV remote control, the buttons worked every other time.

After reading it, I rang a cigarette foil and literally in 5 minutes restored all the buttons that did not work.

    [b] THANK YOU a lot to the author !!! [/ b] wink

I propose to slightly improve the method of bonding foil (from paper-based sweets) to the rubber contacts of the remote control. More than once I tried to glue with different types of adhesives, but, over time, everything flew off. Rubber, and especially graphite-containing, does not hold glue. But, I found a way. With a clerical knife on each site, we make 3-4 shallow (o, 5 ... 1 mm) incisions. Efforts not to make, cuts great.Next, we take an epoxy resin and knead 2-3 grams with an acid hardener. This volume is more than enough. With a needle, we apply small droplets of resin on the cut contact pads and wait 3-5 minutes. During this time, the resin, due to its high fluidity, penetrates into cuts and fills them. You don’t need to fumble, it will flow there. Then we put on the remnants of the drops pre-cut squares or round foils and barely press them to the base of the elastic bands. You can’t press it with your finger, otherwise the residual resin will fall from the finger to other sites and after polymerization there will be no contact. We wait 5-8 hours until complete "drying out". To control the polymer, we don’t throw away the resin onto / into which we have bred it, but use it as a “probe” of solidification. After a period of time, the resin has some residual elasticity and does not break when the buttons are pressed, and the bonding strength is of the highest class. Rather, over time, aluminum will wear off rather than peel off. In the end, you can (need) press the rubber band on a thick cloth a little to give the edges of the foil a spherical shape. We collect the remote control, or whatever you have and enjoy light clicks. Good luck everyone.

This remote control was repaired by me at work, as they say, in the field. Material that was at hand. More than a year has passed, all buttons function perfectly. Although before the repair, there were proposals from colleagues at work to buy a new remote control. Thank you all for your feedback and comments.

The foil falls off after a week (the glue dries - crumbles), the conductive paste is smeared, interfere on a silicate basis - complex components are needed ... the best way and proven: WORKING SURFACE CROSSED WITH COPPER WIRING AS A THREAD (3-4 stitches last a century)!

There is a much simpler method. Degrease and wipe the conductive coatings well with a pencil grill. 100% result!

During the repair, I use the keyboard film, for more than 15 years I have been repairing this way. It is impossible to describe in detail in the comments, because I will share a link to my master class in one forum.

It’s a good idea, but for more than 30 years I still haven’t had a case when a simple and effective tool didn’t help - to wash the remote control case well and then wipe the board and rubber band with buttons with an alcohol. Withstands this several times, in any case, the remote control of the TV purchased in the early 90s still works, although the TV itself is already all;)

First, pay attention to the cleanliness of the contact surfaces. Always rinse the button block with water and washing powder first, and wipe the board with a dry or moistened cloth. In the vast majority of cases this is enough.
