Although frost is still cracking, it’s time to think about Easter gifts to friends. I suggest using the “quilling"To create this little masterpiece.

Waltz of the Flowers

Quilling - This is an amazing type of needlework: using ordinary toothpicks from multi-colored paper strips of different widths and lengths, you can create real works of art.
For work you will need: a chicken egg, white paper napkins (preferably three-layer), PVA glue, double-sided multi-colored paper, a paper knife, an iron ruler, a plastic strip cutting board and a toothpick.

First we prepare the basis: make a hole in the bottom of the egg and blow out the liquid. We cut a paper towel into small pieces and glue the egg in several layers with them. In the place where there was a hole, we impose an additional 2 layers for strength. Let the glue dry.

First we prepare the basis

We cut the paper strips with a knife and a ruler, pre-marking the A-4 sheets into strips 0.5 cm and 1.3 cm wide. It is very important that the strips are all the same width, the quality and beauty of the work depend on this.

The main elements for quilling are spirals. Twist them with a toothpick or a large thick needle. The smaller the hole in the center of the spiral, the more beautiful the elements will be. You need to wind the paper tape tightly, then carefully remove it from the toothpick. If we need a tight, dense element (the middle of the flowers), then we glue the edge of the paper immediately, preventing the spiral from unwinding. For more openwork elements (leaves, petals), after winding, it is necessary to release the paper tape and allow it to straighten slightly and only then fix it with glue.

For red flowers and green leaves, we need paper tapes 0.5 cm wide. For each element, we take a strip of paper 15 cm long, twist the spirals and fasten. To create the same elements, the base spirals must be the same size.
From the free fixed spiral we make the “eye” element: for this, from both sides we evenly compress the spiral and release it. The petal for the flower is ready.

The central ornament consists of 7 flowers and 6 pairs of leaves. For each flower we glue together 5 red petals. In total, flowers will need 35 petals.

Leaves are made in the same way as flower petals, but the eye element needs to be slightly curved. The central ornament will involve 28 leaves.

We begin to stick the elements on the egg. In order for the elements to hold well on the base, we apply abundant glue to the size of each fragment of the composition and let it dry slightly, apply flowers and gently press it.

For pink fluffy flowers, it is necessary to make multi-colored midpoints from tight spirals (0.5 cm). Of pink paper tapes 1.3 cm wide and 15 cm long, two-thirds of the width is thickly cut with a fringe.

We wind it around the middle and fix it. Fingers spread the petals.

Glue 8 colors on both sides of the central ornament.

We fill the top and bottom of the egg with a pattern of leaves and flowers. Here are two options.
