Embroidery ribbons - this is one of the most original and exciting types of needlework. Products decorated with such embroidery look very rich and, at first glance, difficult. However, this impression is misleading. I will tell you the secret of creating such an elegant napkin.

Napkin materials

Materials that will be needed in the work:
1. A piece of gabardine, aquamarine, 20 cm by 20 cm.
2. Threads for embroidery "floss" of green color (the same as a thin ribbon).
3. Threads for sewing with pink and white polyester.
4. Satin or silk ribbons: pink and green 6 mm wide, green of a different shade - 10 mm.
5. Small beads of white and golden color.
6. Flowers-sequins are light yellow and white.
7. Scissors, hoops and needles: 1 for sewing with a small eye, 2 for ribbons with a blunt end and large ears (the length of the eye should correspond to the width of the ribbons).

sketch drawing

We start by creating a sketch of the picture. Next, transfer it to the fabric with a simple pencil, schematically using lines and dots. The edges of the napkin are cut with curly scissors - this will protect the fabric from sprinkling.

hoop the fabric

In order for the work to be neat, we pull the fabric on the hoop. We embroider with threads “floss” with a seam “behind the needle” of the twig.

to lay the foundation

To create roses, you need to find the basis. To do this, take the threads for sewing the same color as the ribbon for roses and begin to embroider the rays. Sew in one thread is not tight. We flash each ray twice. For one rose, 5 rays are sewn. We embroider a basis for three roses.

Cooking a pink ribbon

We prepare a pink ribbon about 40 cm long (for each rose), cut one end evenly and the other at an angle of 45 °, so that it is convenient to thread the needles into the eye.

Fasten the tape to the needle

We fix the tape on the needle.

Making a flat knot

bend the end of the tape twice

Making a flat knot. To do this, bend the even end of the tape twice and pierce it in the center with a needle. We stretch the tape through the knot.

Start embroidering a rose

We begin to embroider a rose - a spider web. We bring the tape to the front side and wind it onto the base through one ray.

wrap it on the base

forming the middle

First, we pull the tape more, forming the middle, then weaker. Passing the tape under the rays, slightly twist it to achieve a resemblance to a living flower. When the rays are completely filled, we remove the tape inside out. In the same way we embroider other roses.

embroider other roses

At the ends of the branches with a pink ribbon, we embroider the buds with a stitch “loop in attachment”. To do this, display the tape on the front side at the base of the twig. With a needle, grab the fabric to the length of the bud, wind the tape by the needle and lower it down, gently straightening it. Hold the loop formed from the ribbon with your finger and pull the needle out of the fabric, slightly scrolling (this will help the thickening near the needle easier to pass through the fabric).

grab the fabric length

With a small straight stitch we bring out the tape inside out and cut it, leaving 1.5 - 2 cm. All the “tails” from the inside must be hemmed by first tucking the cut edge.

embroider leaflets on a twig

When the flowers are ready, embroider the leaves on a twig with a 6 mm ribbon with a straight stitch. With the help of a large needle, we straighten the tape, forming a leaf, and make sure that the tape is not twisted from the inside. We embroider the leaves from the bottom up, advancing to the bud.

ribbon stitch

We sew the sepals at the buds with a seam “ribbon stitch”.

From a green ribbon of another shade, 10 mm wide, with the help of a larger needle, we embroider leaves near roses in pairs with a “ribbon stitch” seam.

Remove the hoop from the hoop. We lay out the sequin flowers, fix them on the fabric with the help of golden beads. And the last touch - we sew white beads in the axils of leaflets on the branches in a checkerboard pattern.
