There are many varieties of batik (cold, hot, knotted, etc.) Many of the methods are very labor-intensive, time-consuming, and require professional skills.
Today is a very simple and accessible master class. An excellent result is obtained without much effort and without labor-intensive manipulations: boiling the fabric, steaming it over steam, and so on. This method can be mastered by any caring person who is ready to create and experiment. Batik will become your favorite hobby.
To make a painting you will need special paints, a special outline and a special paint thinner. All this is sold in specialized stores and the purpose is indicated on the label. You will also need brushes, fabric, a stretcher, and buttons.In order to dilute the paint, as well as pick it up with a brush before applying it to the fabric, it is convenient to use a container for freezing ice (for cocktails).
Batik fabric should only be natural. In our master class it will be an atlas. Before you start drawing a picture, you need to soak the fabric in warm water and keep it there for a while. Then dry and iron. This is done so that the fabric can be easily pulled onto the stretcher. In addition, you must take into account that natural fabrics shrink and your painting may become smaller in size during subsequent washing.
Then we fasten the fabric with buttons on the stretcher.
Choose the picture you like. Beginners should start with flowers: they look aesthetically pleasing and are not difficult to draw. You can take a picture on a postcard as a model, or you can use your imagination yourself. You can draw the drawing with a pencil. If you are confident in the strength of your hand, then take the outline right away, be bold and you will succeed!
After the outline has dried well, take a brush and paints and apply paint to the drawing area, without going beyond the outline. This way the paint will not spread across the fabric.
After the paint has dried thoroughly (and the drying time is indicated on the label), you remove the fabric from the stretcher and carefully iron it from the inside out.

With this method there is no need to boil the fabric or steam it over steam. If necessary, the painting can be safely washed in warm water and soap, dried and ironed. This is especially important if you are decorating sofa cushions that need frequent washing.
